Project: Basement inheritance impact on rift evolution and rifted margin formation.

My research objectives: The project aims to investigate the influence of the pre-rift basement characteristics on rift evolution. Through a multi-disciplinary approach (including geophysical and geological constraints), I will characterise the geometry, rheology, composition, and structural setting of the basement at pre-rift stage for rifts and rifted margins developing on orogenic terranes. I will combine interpretations of offshore seismic reflection profiles, potential field data, geophysical modelling, and plate reconstructions.

Background: I got my bachelor degree in Geology at the University of La Rochelle and then moved to Strasbourg, where I got my master in Geology and Earth dynamic. Both degrees gave me the opportunity to experience fieldwork on the French west coast and in different parts of the Alps. I also got the opportunity to travel around Europe, doing an Erasmus in Toledo, Spain, and my master’s thesis in Trondheim, Norway. At NTNU, I was able to start consulting articles and data related to my research project.
