Project: Current strain distribution in active rifts from space geodetic measurements.
My Research Objectives: I will model the stress state of an active rift using long-term visco-elasto-plastic models in an innovative way to fit geodetically determined velocities on both geodetic measurements and earthquake catalogs, expecting to asses connections between areas of localized strain and magmatic plumbing systems.
Background: I got my degree in Applied Mathematical Engineering at Universidad de Concepción, Chile. In my research work, I model the seismic behavior of subduction interfaces using rate-state friction and adaptive time-stepping with the north of Chile as our study-case.
