Project: “Rift initiation in the lower to middle crust”
My research objectives: My research aims to elucidate the dynamic interplay between strain localization and fluid flow during lower crustal extension by conducting comprehensive fieldwork, microstructural analysis, petrology, geochronology, and modeling. I will investigate the micro-fabric, petrochemical, and geochronological characteristics of the Pogallo lower crustal normal fault in the Southern Alps, northern Italy by utilizing state-of-the-art analytical instruments such as FEG-SEM, EBSD, EMPA, LA-ICP-MS, and SIMS. This study seeks to advance our understanding of lower crustal processes and contribute valuable insights into the mechanics of crustal deformation and fluid migration.
